Soon on the corner of Willingdon Ave and Lougheed Hwy you will see 28 acres of “amazing”. The area is now undergoing a spectacular overhaul with the project Amazing Brentwood expected to be completed by fall 2018. This is just the first of four development phases. We wanted to tell you a bit about the project that is currently under construction.

Brentwood is soon to become the new social heart of Burnaby and one of the largest urban destinations in North America. The project will transform the area into a premiere residential, shopping, entertainment, and social community. How will it feel? Amazing! Recently I read a quote on the Ikea website: “We don’t believe in perfect homes. We believe in homes that are a perfect reflection of the people who live inside. Where everything looks the way you want it to, works the way you need it to, and just generally makes you feel good.” Although this statement is a bit contradictory to my line of work, I thought that there was some truth to it. Leaving your baby or child with someone else all day is a difficult decision to make; deciding with who is an even more difficult decision. We’ve gathered some interesting tips to help make the decision a little easier, with suggestions on how to find the best daycare facilities for your child.

1. Ask lots and lots of questions. Find out about the facility’s policy on discipline, naps, snacks, when a child is sick, etc. This two-way communication needs to become an integral part your relationship with the staff. Do they communicate well about how your child’s day went, what your child ate, if he had a nap, how many diapers he used, etc?

2. Be a good observer. Look at how the childcare providers interact with children. Are they on the floor
